JEN...I need you to post your wheat salsa recipe again! What an amazingly healthy, low calorie snack. Also, Miss Jan, I'd love your burrito recipe. AND, Julie, your "strogenof" (sp?) recipe would be fabulous. My goal this year is to start feeding my kiddos healthier snacks. SO, any help with this would be amazing. I've become retarded in the cooking department ever since the photography business opened up.
SO...here's one really simple recipe for smoothies.
One Cup of any berry yogurt. (I like blueberry yoplait)
One handful of blueberries (to keep us all antioxidant free)
One cup of ripe (frozen or fresh) strawberries
One banana (ripe...but not too ripe) I've ruined a ton of smoothies this way
One half of a thing of berry juice concentrate.
Half a cup of milk
Half a cup of water (or a tiny bit more if needed)
I fill the rest up with ice
Blend...and enjoy.
Often times, I'll add another thing of yogurt because my kids like it creamier. Or, if I have sherbert, I'll add a tiny bit of that if its for dessert.
Also, stay away from any juice that has orange in it...its just too tart for this type of drink. I like to go with a "mango...or berry" juice from the frozen section instead. Give it a taste and add more water or ice till you've reached desired consistency for your own personal taste.
Its easy...not amazing. But, my kids really like it and its filling.
